Mentoring and Mentor Development
Course outline
Mentoring is a process where a more experienced person serves as a role model,
guide, teacher and sponsor to a less experienced person.
The aim is for the professional and personal development of the mentee. Both
mentor and mentee benefit in this ongoing, supportive relationship involving
high levels of trust and confidence.’
This workshop will help organisations to introduce and prepare mentors for their
role, to appreciate that mentoring is a special relationship, not a
"transaction". The aim is to enable mentors to make the best of their time in
mentoring meetings. More experienced mentors will also benefit from a
'refresher' and an update on current trends in learning and development. The
workshop comprises a mix of short discussion-based input sessions, plus
individual and small group exercises, to explore aspects of the mentoring
process.
